Talek Williams to Transfer

According to his Twitter page, Talek Williams will transfer after just one season at Central Connecticut State.

The 6'3" guard, known for his athleticism and dunking ability, injured his foot during the pre-season which caused him to miss the team's first ten games. He made his debut December 17th at Boston College (an 84-65 loss), and averaged a little over 13 minutes per game over his first eight games. However, after playing just 11 minutes over a three game stretch in the middle of January, he didn't appear in a Blue Devil uniform again. Whether it was injury or other reasons, he was in street clothes for the remainder of the season.

Williams averaged just 2.6 points per game and 0.8 rebounds per game in 11 games (2 starts). However, he was able to flash that athleticism that Blue Devil fans were eager to see entering the season. Like this, this, and this.

The fact that head coach Donyell Marshall immediately thrust him into the lineup once he was healthy shows that there was high hopes for Williams, and he even started two conference games back in early January. Marshall praised not only the athleticism, but his ability to be a lock-down perimeter on the defense end.

The Williams exit really thrusts the three freshman guards into the spotlight, as Ian Krishnan, Will Ellis and Eduardo Camacho, as well as Tyson Batiste, account for the only true backcourt players on the roster. Additionally, last year's three best perimeter defenders (Laney, Bowles and Williams) are now gone.
